HELP EDDIE BEAT COLORECTAL CANCER
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Valeria and I am fundraising for a dear family from my church. Donna and Eddie are one of the sweetest, most selfless servant couples at Evangel Church. Sadly, Eddie has been recently diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer. This diagnosis came less than a year after he underwent a hand surgery that already put his family in great debt because of the limitations of their insurance plan. Now as they go through the physical and emotional pain of dealing with this recent diagnosis, they have the added stress due to lack of insurance coverage. Even though Eddie works at a hospital, he has not been able to find any relief for his circumstances.
Eddie has been having what he thought was digestive issues for about 9 months. Closer to October 2023 it started affecting his urinary functions and bowel functions. He has been in extreme pain whether sitting, standing or walking. And if you know this man, you know he is always on the go, this is highly unlike him. Closer to November blood started to appear in his stool and that was alarming.
In December he attempted to get in to see a doctor to no avail. Since he only sees the doctor when there is a problem, he was out of his doctor's system and was told it would take several months to get a new patient appointment with his PCP. He was in so much pain and discomfort that he couldn't wait, so he decided to find another PCP.
The new PCP ordered a CT scan of the abdomen, which came back with lesions on his liver. Since that was suspicious, the PCP ordered an abdomen MRI. He went to the urologist & GI Dr on the same day. Urologist scheduled a scope to be done in a couple weeks. GI ordered a colonoscopy that was done within 2 days. There were growths that the colonoscopy showed and were biopsied. GI Dr sent a referral to surgeon.
The surgeon ordered a pelvic MRI. This was done 4 days after the abdominal MRI. The following Wednesday we met with the surgeon to get results of the pelvic MRI which showed Stage 2 colorectal cancer. Subsequently, it was determined that the oncology physicians would be tier 2 but the facility would be tier 3 on insurance which meant the copays and deductions are through the roof expensive!!
Any help no matter the size is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
