Eddie Amorski's recovery fundraiser

On February 29th our uncle, Eddie Amorski, checked into the hospital for a heart bypass surgery with a 3-day expected checkout. Unfortunately, due to severe complications, nearly two months and 10 additional emergency surgeries later, Eddie is still fighting for his life.

Due to complications from the initial heart bypass procedure, Eddie was transferred via medical transport from a New Jersey hospital to Westchester Medical Center in New York. Since February 29th, Eddie has undergone an unbelievably challenging journey with a full team of medical surgeons and staff strategizing his recovery. Most notably, Eddie has just recently had his left leg amputated above the knee as another life-saving effort. Some of the medical procedures Eddie has undergone are:

Heart bypass and ECMO machine

Overnight medical transport to NY

ECMO revision and compartment syndrome

Tracheostomy

Removal of balloon pump

Leg Debridement

Laparotomy

Chest tube

Chest scar revision

Above the knee left leg amputation.

Eddie has a long road ahead but by God's grace and intervention, has demonstrated unbelievable toughness and determination, even shocking the medical staff in his survival and improvement. Most of the surgeries have been incredibly high risk and doctors weren't sure he would make it through, but against all odds Eddie continues to fight.

Eddie has been surrounded and supported by his family during this journey with his wife, Judy, and 3 beautiful daughters, Sophia, Elya, and Christiana. Eddie is still employed full-time. Judy and the girls are employed full-time or are full-time students. This entire process has required everyone to put a halt to their working and everyday lives in support of Eddie's journey. Now, as the process is ongoing, Judy and the girls are navigating their working professional and student lives while their father and husband continues to fight. Every free moment, Judy and the girls rush back up to New York for another hotel stay to be by Eddie's side.

The Amorski family never asked for this fundraiser to begin but I believe it is long overdue to support this wonderful, faith-filled family. As Judy and the girls have faced unimaginable circumstances, it has only grown and called upon their faith in God as they know he is in control, just as Eddie knows this. Please consider donating to cover a fraction of the on-going medical, travel, and lodging costs for the family. For example, an above the knee leg prosthetic can cost up to 70,000 dollars.
