Our Louise. An amazing daughter, sister, partner, and mother to four beautiful young children, sadly passed over on 14th February 2022.
Louise’s love of life, her enchanting smile and captivating beauty, touched everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Such an inspirational young woman whose energy for instilling happiness into so many people’s lives is part of the reason behind our new charity:
‘for the love of Lou’
Charity was at the heart of everything that Louise stood for, she would often say how she would one day set up a charity to provide support for others facing tough times. Right up to the last few days, her thoughts were still about caring for others, leaving payment behind the counter in a nearby petrol station for a homeless man and organising a night in a hotel for him as he was living at the side of the road. Generous to the last, she bought an elderly lady in the hospital bed opposite her a bar of chocolate after overhearing a conversation about what chocolate was her favourite. Louise was selfless throughout her whole life. When a patient arrived in her ward having recently had a fall, Lou heard the story of how she had no one to help her when she lay on the floor for 12 hours waiting for help. The patient had recently lost her only friend in the whole world…….a cat and so Lou reached out to her friends and family in her last few days, determined to make sure this lady didn’t go home to an empty house by finding a new cat.
Her life was to last just 36 years ……. In that time, with her beloved Paul, she had travelled, built a farmhouse, and was in the midst of raising four beautiful children aged 5, 7, 9 and 13. For the past year she had fought Breast Cancer with dignity and with her family by her side every step of the way, still smiling, still having empathy for whatever anyone else was going through …. Climbing mountains to overcome her battle. Louise was an incredibly special lady and loved by all …. She was truly ‘one in a million’.
With her partner Paul, they were in the midst of raising their four beautiful children, teaching them to be kind, loving and strong individuals, each having a unique identity forged by Louise. The last 3 and half weeks of her life were spent with her beloved partner Paul and the children in Thailand making memories that will last forever. Thailand was supposed to be the honeymoon for a wedding, but due to covid this never happened, instead the holiday was used as a celebration for the end of treatment.
In honour of Louise, we would like to fulfil her dream and create a charity that provides caravan holidays for families where they can get away from the pressures of hospital and treatment, and once again become a proper family. For families experiencing loved ones diagnosed with Triple-negative Breast Cancer, the charity will provide a space where they do not have to worry about anything... except enjoying themselves and spending quality time together.
Like all charities, we rely on the generosity and goodwill of people like you to continue in her memory and to support other families just as Louise would have done. Louise leaves behind a family who feel the pain of her loss every day, setting up and running the charity ‘for the love of Lou’ will ensure that every penny raised will be put to a good cause and help create a legacy for Lou.
Please note: that although the beneficiary name on this fundraiser page reads 'on behalf of Paul Veness' every penny donated will go straight to the charity 'for the love of lou'. We estimate that £5,000 will pay for at least ten families to spend a week together on holiday, building memories that will last forever.
