Edana's trip to the UK July 2018

It’s been 3 years since our last visit to the UK and Edana and I really miss you all. It doesn’t look like any of you can be persuaded to visit us - so we’re dreaming of another visit to Sunny Old Scunthorpe to come and see you! There's an extra special reason for the trip this time because my brother Jonjo will be turning 40 in the same week Edana turns 13 - so we're hoping to organise a family reunion ( which you will all of course be invited to)
The cost of these trips each time is enormous. Not only for the flights and associated travel expenses but also the loss of income for me during the travel period while I’m away and then managing the impact of that in the month after I return. I’ve estimated that all up it will cost me something like AUD$7.500 (4,200 pounds) to make the trip over with Edana this summer.
Unfortunately her father is unwilling to contribute a single penny to the proposed trip ( he kindly informed me I could save up my child support for ‘vacations’ and does not see the value for Edana in supporting connection with my family). As such, I am trying to work out how to budget on my own for this trip, in a financial climate where, to be honest, I am struggling to make ends meet as it is.
Bottom line is: If Edana and I are to make it over again this year we need your help. I need to generate a minimum of an additional AUD$3000 ( 1700 UK pounds) to cover Edana’s costs and am hoping that if many of you give a little, then we might manage to reach that target. I know it’s a big ask- but Edana’s childhood is moving along so fast and I believe it is so precious for her to have experiences with her OS family and a sense of her European roots.
If you’d enjoy to contribute anything at all to this extra special gift to her ( her 13th birthday is the 15th July) then hopefully we’ll be seeing you this summer to thank you in person. Our proposed dates are 9th July- 3rd August ( she can’t afford to miss much school as she is now in High School so this is to co-incide with our winter holidays here).
I will leave this porthole open until the end of March, at which point I will make a decision about whether I can buy the tickets or not. I TOTALLY understand if you don't want to chip in. Life is expensive and we all have our own individual financial stresses and strains. I also take responsibility for my choice to live so far away from my loved ones!
If we don’t reach target I will put the collection into a kitty towards tickets for next year.
