Clinical trial for Ed Wester to Beat lung cancer!

Donation protected
Ed was diagnosed on September, 15th (the day after his and Arlene's 51st anniversary) with stage III lung cancer. He has already made one 10 day trip to Houston to complete his first round of tests for a promising clinical trial that is combining chemo with 2 immunotherapy drugs. He and his family are now waiting to find out when this process will begin, according to the doctor the treatment is expected to begin as early as this month. This will require 3 rounds of chemo/immunotherapy and a surgery upon completion. The travel and accommodations for each trip with Ed and one family member are definitely not covered and will be expensive.  There will undoubtedly be many more expensive costs to consider than just travel costs. Ed and Arlene do not have a concrete number at this time but I felt it was important get the ball rolling to try and make the upcoming travels to Houston over several months possible and allow them to focus on the medical aspect of this journey.

Lets talk about "Big Ed", as his family calls him, for a moment.  Fifty one years ago he married the love of his life Arlene Barker and within a year she was a military wife and Ed was overseas serving our country during the Vietnam War.  Arlene later joined Ed in Germany, to this day, you still can't keep them apart.  Ed and Arlene had 3 amazing children of their own and have been loving parents to many more.  Ed has a strong sense of community, volunteering with children's sports, lending his expertise in HVAC to those that are less fortunate and his work with the Shriners are just a few highlights.  From what I gather, none of these hold a candle to his dedication to his church and faith.  If you are so inclined, please say a prayer for Ed and his family during this time.  I believe that as important as the funds are for Ed to have access to this clinical trial that he would be quick to tell you that a simple prayer would be the greatest thing you could do for him.

I hope you will join me in making sure Ed is able to take advantage of every opportunity this clinical trial will offer a husband, father and grandfather that has been so generous and giving to others.

We also wanted to add that there are many ways to offer support during this time. Airline and hotel points to help with travel are an example of other ways to contribute.  Sharing this on social media is a huge way to help as well.  Myself and, more importantly, the Wester family thanks you for taking the time to read this and contributing if you are able.

God Bless
