Oh Dad… you are our hero and our champion. Here we go, buddy.

I hate having to share this news, but my dad, Ed “Red” Geiger, is facing kidney cancer and complex medical issues, with surgery and treatment ahead at Columbia University. What he wants most are your prayers, love, and well wishes for a safe and successful surgery.

If you know my dad, you know he has always been strong and selfless. He’s the kind of man who wants to power through life’s challenges on his own and never be a burden to anyone. That’s exactly who he is — a veteran who served as a Coast Guard search and rescue commander, a former national judo champion, a leader in our church, and the most devoted dad, grandpa, and friend.

But this time, we know it’s our turn to rally around him. Your prayers and love are what he would treasure most. And for anyone who also feels called to give, your support will ease the unknown financial burdens that come with cancer care — surgery, hospital stays, recovery, travel to Columbia, parking, meals to keep him strong, and extra help at home. Your generosity will give him the gift of focusing fully on healing with dignity, peace, and comfort.

Update Post 9/18/25

Thank God my dad, Ed “Red” Geiger, made it safely through surgery and is now in recovery . We are deeply grateful for your prayers, love, and encouragement they carried him and us through this first big step.

The road ahead is still uncertain. He will need follow-up care, doctor visits, and possibly treatments or home support as he regains his strength. We don’t yet know the full scope of what’s coming, but we do know your continued support will make a real difference in easing these burdens.

Most of all, we ask that you keep Dad in your prayers as he continues this fight with dignity, courage, and hope. Please continue to pray for his healing and recovery, and share this post — it would mean the world to our family.
