Support Ed Knutt - COVID 19 Medical Expenses

Donation protected

Our dear friend and his family need your help-

Ed Knutt, devoted husband, and small business owner for over 20 years has not only tested positive for COVID-19 but has been hospitalized due to extreme complications of the virus.

Ed was hospitalized due to a difficulty breathing brought on by Coronavirus, his lungs were severely ravaged by the virus and his saturations were low even with oxygen support. Ed was almost immediately admitted into the ICU and the doctors said that they were unsure if he would make it. Ed fought hard to avoid intubation, but his body got so tired, the doctors made the decision to intubate him. He was put into a medically induced coma and was placed on a ventilator.

He has fought many battles while on the ventilator including new infections, skin damage, and delirium brought on by the virus. When the doctors at Health Park Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida determined the ventilator was not enough, they pushed to have Ed air lifted by helicopter to Advent Orlando Hospital.

Due to the impending hurricane, this was impossible, and Ed’s life was put into a precarious state. Luckily, he was able to be driven by first responders to the foremost COVID-19 treatment center in Orlando Once Ed arrived, he was rushed into surgery without hesitation. Doctors had to heavily sedate him and place him on an ECMO. Doctors gave Ed a 10% chance of survival. With the use of the ECMO machine, which allowed his blood to be oxygenated outside of his body to help his heart and lungs rest, Ed was able to heal substantially.

If it were not for the doctors and hospital staff fighting for Ed, and the community of people across the country praying for Ed, we do not know if he would have survived. For this we are all eternally grateful.

Ed survived 12 weeks in the hospital and has recently been able to wake from his deep sedation with the help of a tracheotomy that still allows him to breath with the assistance of a ventilator. Ed’s lungs have been so severely damaged by the virus, that he may need assistance breathing for the foreseeable future.

He had only very recently begun to breath on his own, when doctors began to fear a new complication had arisen. Ed’s blood platelets were so extremely low that doctors believed it was likely that he would suffer from internal bleeding. The doctors were afraid Ed would succumb to internal bleeding, but by miracle he pulled through.

Marti, Ed’s wife of 10 years, has been by his side through every moment of his long and arduous fight. Marti has done everything she possibly can to help Ed and pay their expenses while he is hospitalized, including selling their truck, using their savings, and closing their small business.

Please understand that this has been both a nightmare and a challenge for Ed and his family. Although we cannot put a price on life, we are asking for your help to sustain them into this next year of therapies and uncertainties.

This is where Ed needs your help – please donate to support him and his family. No donation is too small, every dollar will be accepted with great gratitude and appreciation from the bottom of our hearts. There is strength in numbers and strength in prayer. Please help us pull together as a community and support the Knutt family in their time of need.

May God Bless you,

Steve.
