Our Story

Ed and I have been married for over 11 years. Children were always part of the plan. We figured we’d wait a few years before bringing them into this world. Little did we know we would embark on a complicated fertility journey.

Let’s just say many things happened over the last 7 years of our journey. I had 3 surgeries, 2 fallopian tubes removed, and 1 ovary removed. Not to mention a few diagnoses which makes this journey extremely complicated. Looking at all of the test results and reports caused our faith to dwindle down to the size of a mustard seed. We started looking into other options such as adoption when God said “Your children will come through you”. That’s what we needed to hear and that’s what we used to fuel our faith. So we proceeded with our only option: In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

We completed one retrieval which resulted in 2 viable embryos. Embryo #1 did not result in a pregnancy. We were disappointed, but we continued with the second one.

Embryo #2 was our first-ever pregnancy... our little mustard seed-size baby. We couldn’t believe it. We waited until the 6-week mark before we shared the news with our family. Everyone was overjoyed.

During a routine appointment, it was discovered that the pregnancy hormone was declining. They did an ultrasound and saw the sac, but there was no baby. Our little mustard-seed was gone. We had an early form of miscarriage known as a chemical pregnancy at 8 weeks. As you can imagine, grief hit us hard.

Recovering from a miscarriage took more time emotionally than physically. IVF takes a lot on the body, but the miscarriage was heartbreaking. We had to come to terms with what happened so we took a much needed break from treatment. But we’re not giving up. God WILL get the glory out of this. We’re holding on to God’s promise. With the physical odds stacked highly against us, our children will truly be miracles.

The foundational scripture over our children is from John 1:3-5 (MSG): “Everything was created through him; nothing—not one thing!— came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out”. Our fertility journey has been full of dark areas. But darkness cannot stop the light that God has placed inside our children and that light cannot be put out. #babylight

The Need

We will start another round of treatment in August 2021, but we can’t afford any more on our own. IVF comes with a hefty price tag and unfortunately, our insurance doesn’t cover it so we have to pay out of pocket. Even with the out-of-pocket “discounts”, the costs add up rather quickly. With your help, all donations will be used for:

• Egg Retrieval(s)

• Embryo Transfer(s)

• Ultrasounds, Bloodwork Exams, and Office Visits

• Physician, Lab, and Outpatient Fees

• Medications and Pharmaceutical Products

How You Can Help

Baby Light Puzzle Campaign

Because this is so dear to our hearts, we want to have special keepsakes. We'll create 2 customized puzzles (1500 pieces) that will be hung in the nursery. Each piece will represent a donation. Once every piece has been “sold”, we will put the puzzle together and hang it in a double-sided glass frame so that we can always look back and be reminded of who had a “piece” of bringing our children home.

Since 1500 pieces are pretty small, we won’t be able to write your name on the back. Instead, we will be giving each donor a number and it will be placed on the back of each piece. Your name and associated number will be put into a special book. This way, you can include a message with your donation to be placed in the book as well.

~ Your number will be written on the back of each piece you represent.

~ You can choose to “buy” as many pieces as you want. There is no limit!

~ When donating, you can include a message if you want it to be put in the book.
