Today is my stepbrother Ed's birthday.  He is 53.  We grew up together in the Boston area.  I cannot tell you how sorry I am to be writing this.  Ed and Janet (his wife) live in Nebraska and are currently going through such difficult times.  They are so amazing and strong in how they are handling all of their troubles.  Ed has stage 4 cancer in his brain and lung.  He has 5 tumors in his brain.  The good news is that chemo has stopped the growth of his tumors in his brain and lung.  Right now in addition to another round of chemo, they are dealing with all the bills for Ed's treatment. Ed worked as long as he physically could, but of course is not working now.  Right now they are on COBRA and will be for the next 24 months until he qualifies for Medicare to pay for his medical costs.   We would like Ed and Janet to not have to worry about the bills and instead focus on Ed's battle with cancer and in enjoying their time together.

His wife Janet has written the following.  

I am married to the most loving man ever. He is my soul mate, best friend and the love of my life, but our lives were shattered once we discovered he has cancer--Stage 4, brain and lung cancer. And now, our days are filled with doctors, chemo and fighting for his life. So the bills keep coming and with taxes due, we are not sure how everything will get work out in the end. Due to his illness he had to quit work and he gets disability; however, it's not enough. He's too young to get social security.  Be that as it may, we are hanging on a thread just trying to make it all work, and were hoping that we could ask kind souls to help.
