Dear Family, Friends & Community

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the tragic loss of Ed Heller on Saturday evening, January 13, 2024 and the devastating impact on his immediate family and friends. Ed was a devoted father, husband, and beloved family member and friend to all in the community who knew and cherished their time with him. We will greatly miss his calming presence, the sharing of his passion for everything baseball, his intellectual debates on the hot topics of the day, and his culinary skills and meals shared in the kitchen and off the grill. Most of all, we will miss his unselfish demeanor, and the way he naturally put his family, friends and countless others ahead of his own personal needs.

Over 5 years ago, Ed began having a series of health issues stemming from a minor stroke he suffered. Despite the setbacks and psychological toll on him over these past years, you would have never noticed he was suffering as his tendency was not to burden those around him. Ed continued to persevere and recover through his own strength and commitment to be there to support his family. Fast forward to this past October, when Ed suffered another, more crippling stroke. Over the last 4 months, he passed between hospitals and rehab centers, fighting relentlessly to get stronger to get back to his family and community. On Friday Jan 12., Ed recently went into his last rehab center and texted his friends saying “he would be home in two weeks”. Unfortunately, that Saturday evening, he was suddenly taken away from us way too soon.

As you can imagine, these past 5 years have taken an emotional and financial toll on his entire immediate family. The family had to make many difficult financial decisions, including selling their family home and personal assets to meet basic family needs and mounting medical bills. Although Ed was unable to return to his sales career in the corporate world, he still found ways to support his family to the best of his ability given the recurring health issues. With Ed’s sudden passing, Leslie and their three children (Will, Chelsea and Brandon) need the continued love and support of the community to help them through this devastating time.

We are asking for donations to help Leslie support her children to ensure a continued stable, and loving environment in Ed’s memory. Funds will go towards covering the children’s basic needs, medical bills and imminent future college education expenses. Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in the life of the family. Let's come together as a community to provide comfort, support, and financial assistance during this heartbreaking time.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion. Please share with others willing to help.
