Help Ed DeGenaro Rebuild His Life After an Apartment Fire

This fundraiser has been created on behalf of Ed DeGenaro (legal name Freimut Muehlbauer) and Anita Schifter from Nuremberg Germany, who have lost their home and all of their belongings in a terrible fire.

In the early morning of the 30th of October 2024 around 3.30am while Ed was sleeping alone in their home with two of their three dogs, something caused a fire (the police are still investigating the cause). It was the timely intervention of their neighbor who smelled something burning and called the fire brigade and the police that saved Ed's life. They forced themselves inside the apartment to drag out Ed and the dogs. Ed had become unconscious due to the heavy smoke. Fortunately, he and the dogs did not suffer from any burns but Ed had to be immediately rushed to the hospital (ICU) as the smoke from the fire triggered his already existing and severe condition of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). He is currently under medical treatment and supervision at the Nurnberg Klinikum. Anita is staying with a friend and their three dogs Lena, Chillie and Sassie are in a shelter.

Ed is a guitar player, music producer and music educator. Unfortunately, the fire and the activities of the firemen to douse the fire has completely destroyed everything that belonged to them in that apartment, including all musical instruments and audio equipment. These items were extremely crucial for Ed to earn his livelihood.

Ed DeGenaro, a celebrated German guitar player known for his virtuosity and dedication, in his prolific musical career has inspired and touched the lives of many artists all over the world. He has dedicated his life to music. Today he needs our help to get back on his feet. There are medical bills to be paid, a new home to be found, musical and audio gear to be bought to start his studio again and start earning his livelihood. Then there are household, personal and pet care items that they need to buy to start their lives again.

The funds raised, however big or small, will go towards helping Ed and Anita rebuild their lives and livelihood again from ground zero. This is an opportunity to give back to someone who has given so much through his music.
