My sister spent most of her life raising two boys as a single mother. She worked multiple jobs doing whatever she could do to make ends meet. Whether it was working in her trade as a stylist cutting hair or other general odd jobs to support them. She did a fantastic job and raised two wonderful young men but had always struggled to do so, never able to get ahead, rather always being behind. She recently found her first “career” employment and worked her way from temporary employment to full-time haspermanent as a US Postal Carrier. She overcame many trials & tribulations to get there including being homeless - which forced them into living in a hotel for months putting them even more behind. She and her son struggled to make ends meet there yet hoped to stop renting and be able to purchase a home. Three months ago she did just that! For the first time in almost 50 years she became a home owner!

Unfortunately, she has suffered a serious (off the job) hand injury and is looking at surgery. She is out of work for an indefinite amount of time. Transitioning to a career employee her health insurance benefits are not established yet therefore they aren’t covering any of her healthcare expenses. Medical bills are piling up and she's yet to have surgery. Unfortunately, this usually happens in my sister's life (hence the caption of this fund) "when it rains it pours" she recently had a leak in her newly purchased home which caused the ceiling to cave and now needs to be repaired. The process for home owners insurance coverage and repairs takes time and money, meanwhile the leak and rest of the problem needs to be fixed now. With her hand injury, she’s physically unable to work and has very limited benefits including paid time off.  Certainly not enough to make the mortgage payment much less put food on the table. Of course her family is helping in anyway we can as well as her youngest son who is working strictly to help pay bills on the small income he makes. I’ve established this page in the hopes that a little help from a lot of people could really make a difference in her life and help her get through this tough time, especially right before the holidays.
