On Friday, May 21, 2021, Lee Russell sadly and tragically passed on from this world after 78 years of life sustained through laughter, generosity, compassion, and wisdom. He delighted in finding treasure and we are all better for him having found us. He lived his life wanting to give; whether it be a hug, a record album, books, muffins, advice, opinion, or direction. All who knew Lee were fortunate recipients in some way to what he so wholeheartedly gave.
Lee and his wife Christine (who preceded him in death) raised a family together in their Lakewood home where they filled it with acceptance, loyalty, empathy, conviction, and most importantly, unconditional love. Lee loved a challenging conversation, a witty joke, and a good meal. He prided himself in his family, which grew immensely with the addition of the family he discovered at Unity Spiritual Center. Unity became his home away from home and he savored the community and the company he experienced there.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lee’s home away from home, Unity Spiritual Center, 23855 Detroit Rd, Westlake, Ohio on Saturday June 12th at 11:00 am. For those who are not able to attend in person, a virtual viewing of the service will be available on the Unity Spiritual Center YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/user/UnityWestlakeVideos
The nature of Lee’s death is tragic, with a house fire in the home where he lived for over 50 years. This tragedy unfortunately brings some unexpected costs along with it. To speak frankly, the home was not insured and the damage is great. The family deeply appreciates any assistance as they navigate all that comes along with an unexpected loss like this.
