My name is Zoltan Kapocsi and I am a student at Winterbourne Academy in Bristol. I am participating in an international expedition to Ecuador in 2027 with Camp International.
This will be a 4-week expedition and will include community development work, environmental projects, and wildlife conservation, alongside additional challenging elements. I will be living and working with local people, experiencing first-hand the issues faced by rural communities in Ecuador, while making a positive and lasting impact. I will contribute to ongoing sustainable projects that support communities and help protect the biodiverse environment of this incredible country.
As part of the expedition, I will also take on a major personal challenge by completing a trek across the three volcanic peaks of the Andean mountains.
The core objectives of this expedition are to undertake projects in order to:
- Raise educational standards within rural developing communities in Ecuador
- Improve living standards in disadvantaged rural areas
- Support wildlife conservation programmes, helping to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats
This expedition is extremely important to me because it will allow me to develop essential life skills. I hope to gain valuable life experience by immersing myself in a different culture and working alongside local communities. I want to develop a deeper understanding of global issues, environmental conservation, and the importance of sustainable community support.
I also aim to build confidence and independence by stepping outside my comfort zone, adapting to new challenges, and working as part of an international team.
I am really looking forward to experiencing a new culture, meeting new people, and taking part in meaningful community and environmental projects in Ecuador. I am especially excited about teamwork and learning from people whose way of life is very different from my own.
At the same time, I feel nervous about stepping so far outside my comfort zone. Being away from home, adapting to a new climate, and overcoming language barriers will be challenging. I am also aware that the physical demands of the trek and project work will be tough at times.
However, I see these challenges as an essential part of personal growth. I am prepared to push myself, stay positive, and learn from every experience. By overcoming these difficulties, I hope to build resilience, confidence, and a stronger sense of independence.
I would be extremely grateful for any contribution, big or small, towards supporting my fundraising journey.
I have a total of £5500 to raise so every little helps!
Please help support me raise the funds I needs to access this amazing adventure!
