Ecomundo is a Domestic Worker-Owned Cooperative based in Washington Heights, a Cooperative business model allows our 19 members to build a business that makes us proud while maintaining flexible schedules and providing for our families. That means we are invested in every service we perform. We are a Cooperative built of Domestic Workers, Immigrant women and Women of color born from a Domestic Violence Project at Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation 9 years ago.
It also means, when we do not work, we do not get paid and cant provide for our families. Our members work hard to provide quality service for their clients . Clients cleaning fees pay for rent, food, and childcare for each of our members and their families also a percentage from each cleaning goes directly in to operation costs and sustainability of our own business.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 it's best to stay isolated and avoid contact with others. That means not inviting our members into your homes. That means our members can't work and can't get paid. That puts an enormous burden in to our members households, primarily single income families.
To help tide us over until we can work at full capacity again, we are counting on you to donate any amount you can. It will all go to support our members, to help them buy food and other essential necessities until they can get back to cleaning again.
We know this is an incredibly difficult time for everyone, and we are grateful for any support you can provide, we cant wait to be back and provide support for you and your families.
Please also support us by sharing this campaign through your social media platforms.
