Ecological Center in Loving Memory of Tomer and Guy

October 7, 2023 has come to be known as Shabbat Ha’Shachora, The Black Sabbath. Each of us, in our individual way, bears witness as a living testimony.

On that day, the young commanding Golani 51st Brigade, 2nd Company were stationed in Kibbutz Kissufim. Shortly after the shelling began, the company engaged in defense to protect the base and kibbutz. On that day, among the casualties, two young men gave their lives to protect those around them bravely.

• Tomer Nagar, z”l, operated the Negev Machine Gun. He fought tirelessly to save the female soldiers until he ran out of ammunition and later was killed in action.

• Guy Bazak, z”l, was a marksman. He insisted on leading the platoon into the kibbutz in a heroic search and rescue mission and saved countless lives.

The friends and family of this company have a goal to create an educational center that celebrates Tomer and Guy’s values. The Center will encourage creativity, ecological awareness, and environmental responsibility. The facility will include green landscaping, innovative water systems, along with stations and educational activities near Kibbutz Ein HaShofet in Northern Israel.

The mission is also to establish a memorial site that pays homage to the courage, dedication, and selflessness of our fallen soldiers. This will serve as a sacred space where families, friends, and future generations can come to reflect, remember, and pay their respects. With the guiding principle of understanding that how we take care of this Earth- the land, people and memories- can reflect our dedication to the future.

From the design and construction to ongoing maintenance, every dollar contributed will play a vital role in bringing this vision to life. In the 51st battalion in the Golani Brigade there is the commanding platoon, these two soldiers were part of this platoon which enlisted in November 2022, after finishing training in July they were stationed in Kibbutz Kisufim on the Gaza Envelope, after 4 months of being stationed, the platoon was supposed to go to sergeants course, but on the morning of October 7th everything changed for this platoon
