Photographed above is Ted, my good friend Eclipse's cat, but this GoFundMe is for a human!
Eclipse is a friend of mine going back many years, who I have offered to help with organizing this GoFundMe, as he is dealing with a painfully debilitating cluster of cysts in his face that cause swelling, paralysis, and pain.
On Friday, October 27th, Eclipse was on the way to the hospital to have this cluster of cysts surgically removed when he was informed that the hospital would no longer be covering his procedure. The hospital had agreed to cover two appointments for Eclipse due to financial hardship, but he wasn't informed until the day of his surgical procedure that his two appointments had technically already been used up for pre-op. He would have to pay $2000 on the spot for the procedure, or cancel it. Not having the money, he had no choice but to turn around and go home, still in debilitating pain.
This cluster of cysts is extremely painful and causes intermittent spasms and painful twitches throughout the day, and because of it, Eclipse has not been able to work at the bakery where he's employed for over two months. The surgery required to address the cyst is incredibly intricate, and must be performed by a licensed plastic surgeon, because portions of Eclipse's face must be peeled back under local anesthesia in order to remove the cyst sacs. If not performed correctly, Eclipse could lose one of his eyes.
It is of the utmost importance that Eclipse be able to work with a highly skilled surgeon who is up to this task. He is on CountyCare (Medicaid) health insurance and therefore has extremely limited options. By supporting this GoFundMe, you can ensure that Eclipse gets to enjoy continuity of care by returning to his original doctors and receiving the operation he was originally scheduled to receive.
Eclipse is a wonderfully giving, hilarious, strong, wise person, and he deserves to be able to live comfortably without constant muscle spasms and sudden bouts of paralysis. These cysts have not only taken away his ability to work, he's also largely unable to leave the house due to the swelling and pain. Please help our friend get back on his feet by contributing what you can to his medical expenses! All money will be going directly to him.
