My name is Lara Davis, I am a competitive gymnast and level 1 coach for Eclipse Gymnastics. I want to fundraise for my club along with other gymnasts as the lockdown and corona virus has prevented the club from making any money - meaning it’s going to be harder for our club to buy a purpose built unit for the gymnasts to train in.
Eclipse Gymnastics is an inclusive club offering recreational, tumbling and sports acrobatics, who have approximately 300 members with the ages ranging from 18 months to 19 years. We are a competitive sports acrobatics and tumbling club competition regionally, nationally and internationally, and have had amazing success with our disability pair becoming National Champions in 2017. As a club we also had 3 pairings qualifying to compete for the title of National Champions again this year but all competitions have been cancelled. Along with myself, 28 of our squad members were also elated to be picked for our ‘Disneyland Paris team’, of which we each had to perform a solo routine as an audition.
As I am aware, our Eclipse owners/head coaches have been looking for a purpose-built unit/venue to be able to progress and further the club as well as the participants. This is so the club can offer more diversity and more classes to cover all children’s needs. Sadly, the club has been unsuccessful in finding a suitable venue for the past 3 years due to landlords not allowing the D2 leisure use, the venue being the wrong size or not at an affordable price as we are a non-profit CIC business.
This Corona viris has taken a massive toll on my coaches and all us gymnasts having not been allowed to train, be able to take part in the sport we love and seeing our gymnastic family {friends}. It is not looking good to go back soon as we currently train out of schools who are not in a position to allow us back in to hire their venues.
I am looking to fundraise as much as i can to help Eclipse Gymnastics and the head coaches fulfil their dreams and ambitions for everybody involved in our club and for future members. I know they are looking at planning to include a full disability programme for all types of disabilities from learning difficulties, sight, hearing loss, mentally disabled and physically disabled members including wheelchair users, more recreational classes and to further the squad classes to help us become an elite competing squad. None of this can be bought into practise until we can move to a bigger purpose venue.
Pictures of our club are attached below
Anything will help, thank you!!!
