Echo’s Medical Costs
Donation protected
Hi my name is audrey. I made this go fund me for my 1.5 year old cat echo. Echo is without a doubt the sweetest cat you’ll ever come across. Anyone who meets him always says they want a cat just like him. He loves to greet all my lash clients and new people and is a huge cuddle bug.
I recently learned after taking my cat to the emergency vet yesterday that he had a urinary blockage. his bladder was the size of a grapefruit due to how much buildup and had 1cm of urinary crystals blocking him from using the restroom. this caused extreme pain and discomfort.
I am still waiting for a clear diagnosis as the vets told me it’s very hard to find the direct cause of this. From what i’ve been told this is a common thing in male cats and is avoidable but not curable.
Echo went under a urethral obstruction procedure last night in which they sedate him, use a catheter to unblock him and flush his bladder. They have found a very high amount of red blood cells, complete blood in his bladder, mucus and urinary crystals. they have had to make multiple attempts to try to fully flush it out to where there is no longer blood and are still working on doing that. They are currently keeping him there overnights until they can flush him out fully and make sure he’s well enough to come home. without going through with this procedure, we would have had to make the choice of putting him down.
Me and my partner ask for help as we also have a baby on the way and this took a hit on our savings considering we don’t have pet insurance and that this was very unexpected. The medical cost has started at 2,400 but may increase depending on if they need to perform another procedure or how long he stays overnight there. We would really appreciate anything as it will help us a lot, Thank you.
