Support “Echoes of Otsego” Bringing Our Community’s Stories to Life

Imagine hearing the voices of your friends and neighbors transformed into song. Imagine seeing their stories reflected in vibrant portraits. That’s what Echoes of Otsego is all about—capturing the heart of our community through music, art, and storytelling.

Thanks to a generous NYSCA Re-Grant through the Earlville Opera House’s Arts in the Community Grants Program, we’ve brought this vision to life. The art is installed, and on Saturday, April 5th, we premiere our immersive cabaret—a performance featuring Song Portraits and digital paintings of ten community members who shared their deeply personal stories with us in Song Sittings. Each piece is a musical and visual reflection of their lives, struggles, and dreams, creating a powerful tapestry of connection and belonging.

This project began, quite honestly, by accident. A friend once asked me to write a song for their partner, and it turned out to be one of the best things I had ever created. Why? Because I stepped outside of myself and into another person’s world. That experience changed me. It showed me that songwriting wasn’t just about melody and lyrics—it was about deep listening, about honoring someone’s truth through art. That’s why Echoes of Otsego matters. It’s about celebrating our neighbors, strengthening our bonds, and reminding us all that our stories are worth telling.

And now, we want to take these stories beyond Otsego County—touring galleries, sharing performances, and giving voice to our community on a national stage.
