ECHO’S SURVIVAL - BURIED ALIVE -EYE TRAUMA COSTS

as you may or may not be aware of echos story (see bottom of this page for entire story) , it’s now time we ask for your help as little echos medical complications continue after his traumatic experience and injury causing sudden permanent blindness to both eyes . Meghan, echos owner already has exorbitant vet bills to date since he was found ( apparently she is trying to pay these off already) plus after a vet consult on the 30th June 2021, Meghan was advised echo needs to see an eye specialist if the current medication he is on is unsuccessful..he is having antibiotic drops to eyes and on very heavy painkillers and has cysts on his eyes causing more pain and ultimately will need his eyes removed if no improvement , it’s a very big possibility’s they are so damaged from we think the dirt getting into his eyes and him constantly blinking like sandpaper on his eyes then they became infected whilst he was still buried and was completely blind the day he was saved …
NOTE: Lee-Anne Duncan and I (penny Welsh ) have created this fundraiser on Meghans behalf, for some reason it says Lee-Anne Duncan is beneficiary? Apologies, this is incorrect, Meghan is beneficiary, we have tried to change it many many times to no avail, rest assured ALL monies are going to Meghan (echos owner) and all her bills to date and in future will be paid directly . We will be updating this page with receipts / things bought to assist echo around the house/ medication , fees / quotes ; consultations etc as we go along. to show where the funds are being used.
I spoke to Meghan and she’s so distressed about these costs as just the initial consult is $350 appropriately, surgery will be thousands and thousands of dollars $3000-5000 a vet told us, Meghan would never admit, OR ASK FOR HELP but I think she’s so overwhelmed about finding these funds (she doesn’t have) she has accepted our help.
Not only that, her entire world has been turned upside down caring for a suddenly blind dog , she’s doing so well trying to train echo to get his confidence up to move around the house but understandably he’s in a lot of pain , very clingy , can’t be left unattended and is still recovering from being in that retaining wall for just under 2 weeks so needs to get his strength back… plus she is a single mother of 3 kids , plus working 2 jobs!, it breaks my heart !… she said she feels like she has a newborn again .
Echo fought SO hard to survive to see his family again We’d love to take the financial burden off Meghan and try to raise the funds to assist with all the unforeseen expenses…. her vet bills, medication costs, eye specialist consult and surgery costs, also anything to assist her at home to make things a bit easier for echo Eg hiring a dog behaviour person who specialises in blind dogs to come out for a consult to help Meghan with the basics and also little things like a dog carry bag so she has hands free for her son lincon in the wheelchair although currently he is terrified of enclosed spaces so it will be a slow process ,a dog halo bumper to stop him getting injured running into things, a water fountain so echo can hear where his water spot is , rugs so he doesn’t slip , and many more assistance items to help this transition as smooth as possible. The list grows day by day.
People are are so very generous with stories like this and I pray you can assist me (and lee-Anne) in raising these funds so Meghans financial stress regarding echo and his recovery are taken away so she can focus on him and getting him what he needs, and removing the added stress so she can care for the kids etc . He is part of their family and I can’t fathom the outcome if these funds can’t be raised , I don’t even want to think of that to be honest .
I have asked Meghan to provide me with a full quote of the treatment echo will need and the full cost of surgery and cost of a stay in vet hospital if there are complications.
Obviously the amount We’ve put up to raise is an estimate of all mentioned above and there will be ongoing vet consults etc. if the quote comes back higher than I’ve allocated here I will raise the funding amount to accommodate those costs .
We need to get this fundraiser started now in case the eye specialist wants to operate immediately, then these funds will be available to Meghan to proceed so echos pain can be controlled. Vet is already looking at increasing the dosage so he basically sleeps all day . Just heartbreaking
Please if you can assist in any way , even $5 - 10 will help this little cherub, his remarkable miracle survival and his ongoing care… he may need all these costly treatments but he stayed alive for Meghan and her family so it would be great to help out so echo can stay witth this beautiful family for many many years to come

MISSING 12 days
On behalf of Meghan and her family we can advise echo HAS BEEN FOUND ALIVE
after 12 days missing from Hamlyn terrace he’s alive and currently at the vets , he has suffered severe eye damage and severe dehydration
he was located by lee (who wants no recognition, but I’m so damn proud of her!!) as without her little echo would not have survived much longer…
he was found underneath timber in the neighbors yard but he had tunnelled through so many levels as the properties surrounding are different levels and there was so much dirt he could not go backwards so became stuck . The fire brigade was called and lee and the neighbor pulled things out so gently as he was wedged, there was a very delicate operation to remove him safely … Meghan was there with lee when he was pulled out for the reunion
he is very dehydrated and has lost weight, next 24hrs will be critical .. as we all know this is truly a miracle and without lee pushing for answers as to how he got out of the family yard the ending would be so very different..
we will keep you updated, hug your pets that little big closer tonight and be assured MIRACLES DO HAPPEN

UPDATE ON ECHO
nothing short of a miracle echo has survived the night, tragically he has lost his eye sight permanently in both eyes and he has a long way to go to recover after being stuck in the retaining wall for 12 days, day by day now … his owner Meghan just sent this photo HE IS HOME … get well soon echo … AGAIN, MIRACLES DO HAPPEN
