Hey there, my name is Jacob and last Summer I headed off to Echo Lake Bible Camp for 6 weeks and had such a great time serving the campers and having opportunities to share God's message with the children of Vanderhoof, BC. I'm so excited to head back over this Summer, but this time with 7 friends, Matthew, Katherine, Rachelle, Annie, Zara, Daniel and Anna.
The camp's main focus is evangelism through making connections and having a great time with the campers. Regardless of their background, the aim is to show the love of Christ and the message of the gospels to the kids.
Here's a wee breakdown of what we'll get up over the 7 weeks at camp:
- Leading camp activities such as canoeing, archery, wide games, sports, climbing etc.
- Being a friend to the campers and getting to know them. Learning about their own hobbies and interests and a bit about their background/walk with God up until then.
- Spending time in worship with the campers. This includes singing praises and worship songs, listening to the guest speaker and having discussions in the cabins about the talk.
- There'll also be times of devotion each morning for cabin leaders to start the day in God's word and experience spiritual growth ourselves.
- Finally there will be plenty of opportunities to share our own testimonies which was one of the biggest blessings I found last Summer.
We are super grateful for all donations. They will contribute directly towards flights as this is the main expense for the trip and the total raised will be split evenly among each of us that is headed over.
Finally we would greatly appreciate prayer for this trip. Simply that we would have safe travels to and from camp, serve with committed and humble hearts and that we would be able to grow God's kingdom and sow spiritual seeds in the hearts of the campers.
