Elissa Wade and her son Cole lost their home in Echo, Oregon yesterday when a fire broke out in the late morning. Both where home when the fire started and made it out safe along with their dog Gemma. Unfortunately, most of their personal possessions, furniture and valuables were destroyed as the house was a complete loss.
Elissa has been one of my bestfriends since the 4th grade. She is the first to give and never ask for anything in return. She is a single mom that works harder than anyone I know to provide for her son and give him the life he deserves. It is unclear at this time what if anything will be covered by the homeowner's insurance but due to a lapse in coverage in her rental insurance, their personal items will most likely not be covered.
Many of you know Elissa and Cole and have asked how you can help. At this time, all we know is that Elissa will need to rebuild and in order to do that she will need our support. Any donation to the family is greatly appreciated and will be used to help them get back on their feet.
Elissa's Facebook Post:
"I've always wondered, if my house was on fire, what things would I grab to save? Well, today I got my answer. And the answer is....my son! And the damn dog. I always thought I'd probably grab pictures, birth certificates, important paperwork, Cole's artwork, those sort of things. But in that moment, you just focus on getting your loves and yourself out safely. We are ok! And everything that's not ok, is replaceable. Huge thank you to my amazing neighbors who allowed us into their home to stay warm, to Echo Fire and Hermiston/Stanfield Fire for your hard work, and everyone who has already reached out to us, we appreciate you! Despite it all, we are blessed."
