Cash For Connectivity, Echo

The Liverpool Echo and its associated titles are aiming to raise £20,000 in support of the Cash For Connectivity campaign.

We need your help in an emergency fundraising appeal to ensure those most at risk of falling behind in home-schooling can stay in the virtual class.

Cash For Connectivity aims to raise £1.2million to purchase internet-enabled dongles for the households in the North of England who need to get online.

Your money will help 100,000 households from Crewe to Berwick-upon-Tweed, to Carlisle to Scunthorpe and everywhere in between.

Media outlets, politicians, businesses and many more organisations in the North are uniting behind this crucial cause. Staying home and staying safe shouldn’t mean you’re not connected.

A recent survey of city schools to identify IT needs for children and young people found that of the 8,949 pupils currently going into school in Liverpool, at least 1,405 were at school because of a lack of IT facilities at home.

This represents 16% of the average pupil attendance, meaning around one in six students at school during lockdown are there because of IT issues preventing them working remotely.
