Supporting Sam

On November 30th, 2022, Sam Willis suffered a life-altering medical emergency. I am humbly asking for donations to assist in covering his medical bills, cost of living, travel costs for his family, and help in covering the cost of Christmas for his three young sons.

Sam has been a dedicated operating room nurse in the Charleston area for years and has been a mentor to many techs, nurses, and residents. Most recently, Sam was an operating room nurse at the Ralph H Johnson VAMC in Charleston, SC, who specialized in vascular surgery. Sam is known for his immense kindness, infectious laugh, empathy, and compassion toward others.

Sam developed what he believed to be food poisoning that developed into seizures. After his local hospital evaluated his condition, it was determined he needed a higher level of care. He was transported via helicopter to the University of Tennessee, a hospital that could provide neurosurgical services.

Currently, Sam is intubated and in the ICU. His condition is guarded and rapidly evolving. The bleeding in his brain is stable and more decisions will be made in the coming days.

Sam is a loved father of three, son, brother, and friend. All donations will be used to fund his accruing medical bills, travel expenses for his family, post-hospitalization care, cost of living, and Christmas for his three boys.

During this challenging time, any donation would be appreciated. Please keep Sam and his family in your thoughts.
