*UPDATE* 28TH September

Thank you so much to everyone who has shared our fundraiser and the people who were able to contribute. My mum's reaction to the donations we've already had was received with so much disbelief that there are amazing good hearted people in the world. Please keep sharing our cause and hopefully we can reach out target which will make a significant difference to the hospital bill.

I wish this update was a completely positive but sadly after fighting so hard, our Lola passed away Friday morning.
Despite our heartache and struggle to register this, we know for sure that she is now at peace.
Our family in the Philippines have come to pay their respect, my mum has been introduced to relatives that knew our Lola when she was a teenager and when she first became a teacher. We wish we were there with our mum to listen to all the stories. One common theme in these stories is that our Lola was always kind, loving and continuously helped others.

_____________
Hello! My name is Tino, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt plea for help for our Lola.

In the last decade, Lola has faced an incredible series of challenges. She bravely fought cancer and made an astonishing recovery from two strokes she suffered at the beginning of her holiday back home in the Philippines. Though her holiday was cut short, the unwavering support of family and the dedicated hospital staff played a crucial role in her miraculous journey to healing.

Lola’s recovery has been nothing short of inspirational. With the power of continuous prayers and sheer determination, she has defied the odds—progressing from being unable to walk to moving independently and sharing precious conversations with her great-grandchildren.

This year, Lola reached the remarkable milestone of her 80th birthday—a celebration we all thought might not be possible after her battle with cancer. We made sure to celebrate it in a joyful and meaningful way.

However, at the end of September, our hearts sank when her health took a turn for the worse. Lola was readmitted to the hospital, where she experienced a third stroke along with pneumonia.

As many of you may know, hospital costs in the Philippines can be overwhelming. Over the past year, we held onto hope that she would recover enough to return to the UK for continued treatment, but unfortunately, that has not come to pass. The cost for ICU care is approximately 10,000 pesos each night, and with necessary tests and treatments, expenses can soar to 20,000 to 30,000 pesos (£250 to £400) a day. Right now, her hospital bill has already surpassed £1,000 and is climbing each day.

Throughout this ordeal, our mum has been a constant source of support, selflessly putting aside her own challenges to be by Lola’s side. In this time of need, we humbly request your help to ease the burden of the hospital costs. Every little bit counts, and any support you can offer would mean the world to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
