Ecuador Earthquake help for Manabi

Hi everyone, my name is Nathalie Macias. I am from Guayaquil, Ecuador.


On Saturday, April 16 at 7 pm Ecuadorian time, a 7.8 earthquake happened in Ecuador. News is still pouring in, reporting damages as some remote areas continue to be disconnected.


Current media coverage reports that there are more than 570 deaths and, at least, 4,605 people are injured. Sadly these numbers are increasing constantly.

 
The government and various organizations are helping, however, help hasn't arrived to small towns yet.   These towns are in affected areas where access to clean water and food is nonexistent.
Local volunteers from Ecuador are reaching these small towns and the stories are heartbreaking. Volunteers report that many people are desperately looking for loved ones and those who are alive are starving.
The volunteer group are people from Guayaquil, organiced by @Marthamoralesr and @Karlamoralesr. They were the first group to react to the earthquake and organized the biggest individual campaign, to recolect food and water in Guayaquil to be taken to Manabi(Canao, San isidro, Jama, San vicente, Bahia de Caraquez). #Pormanabi

With your donations, we will be able to send money and water filters to the local volunteers who are working in the small towns. Also LifeStraws and Aquatabs will be sent from the United States and the remaining funds will be focused on buying cans of food and mattresses.
