Our son, Jake Anderson (24), has been diagnosed with a tumour on his pituitary gland, which has wrapped around both of his optic nerves and both major arteries into his brain.

Because the tumour is too large and dangerous to operate on, Jake has begun heavy medication to try to shrink it. These treatments have left him unable to work. His partner has also had to stop working to become his full-time carer and support their young family.

This has placed an enormous financial strain on them — on top of the countless specialist and doctor appointments they must attend. Living remotely means frequent travel to Brisbane for specialist care, often requiring overnight stays. They are also in urgent need of a more reliable car to ensure safe travel to these appointments.

Jake is a wonderful dad and a valued part of his community. When he is well, he is the first to give back — whether it’s walking his local streets with his kids to pick up rubbish, or dressing up as the Easter Bunny to bring joy to his daughter and families along the esplanade. Sadly, this year he was too unwell to continue that tradition.
