My name is Leah Woodruff. I am the owner of The Almond Tree Adult Day Center in Tyler, Texas. We opened June 4th 2015. The Almond Tree is the only facility in Tyler that focuses on day time care for elders that have cognitive and/or physical impairments. Most of our clients have Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease and range from ages 65 to 95 years old. We give these elders a fun stimulating environment while giving their caregivers a much needed break or allow them to return to work.
I saw the need for an adult day center in Tyler when I was working at the hospital. I noticed that many of my patients were being admitted into nursing facilities prematurely due to their family having no other option. Eight years later, with a growing passion and business experience I was able to fulfill this need for my community.
The journey has not been easy. God has been my help through many trials. With prayer and faith I have overcome many obstacles. I have a GREAT staff that shares my passion of helping elders maintain a life of purpose, dignity, love, and fun. Business is going well as we steadily increase our clientele and spread the word that this much needed service is now available.
Here is where you come in. Though business is increasing well, we had a slow start due to the newness of this concept. My funds to keep the business operating while I build clientele are gone. I am looking for an investor but many will not risk funds on a start-up business. I have used all my personal resources and my family has helped all they could. God has always been my provider. I have been praying for a solution for several months as I strive to keep The Almond Tree afloat for my clients we have grown to love. I pray that perhaps this fundraiser is one way God will provide.
If you know what it's like to care for an aging parent or spouse please help me help others in the same situation. If you have a heart for caregivers of our aging loved ones please donate. The funds will go to paying the electric bills, staff salary, providing meals for clientele, and mortgage on the facility. I will NOT be using any of the funds for personal use. I have not given myself a paycheck in the last year and I do not intend to until the business is stable. I need a total of $135,000 to sustain the business until it can gain enough clientele to support itself. I would be more than thrilled to obtain $20,000 from this site. I know God will provide in His own way.
If you need any advice on caregiving, please call The Almond Tree or other groups that can help. We want all caregivers to know they are not alone.... Ask for help!
Thank you so much for your support. We have many caregivers that are depending on us for help. I will continue to pray that God allows me to help them. God blesses those with a giving heart.
