On July 31st Carson and his friend, Holden, were in a terrible ATV accident. Carson is recovering from a brain bleed, broken collar bone, punctured lungs, and severe spinal cord injury. There's a long road ahead and we don't want to the cost of anything to be an added stresser for the Magowan family during this time! Please consider donating to help the Magowan's get Carson the resources and medical care he needs!
UPDATE: Carson leaves in the morning for Shepherd Center in Atlanta! While this is incredible and we're all SO grateful, COVID complicates this with who is allowed to be with him during the 6 weeks he will be there. As of right now, Carson's mom, Laura Shears Magowan, will be the only parent allowed in the facility for all 6 weeks.
UPDATE: Carson has been settling in at the Shepard's Center in Atlanta. He is still in extreme pain which is making his recovery difficult. He was recently fitted for an automatic wheelchair, which we hope is only a stepping stone to walking again!
UPDATE: Carson has been walking with a walker but will need to gain more strength and coordination. Until then, he is learning how to better use his wheelchair. His personality affects from his brain injury are subsiding as well. His best friend Holden has now made it to the same facility and is living 4 doors down. They are able to encourage each other and push each other, which will be great for them both. Thank you for your continued prayers.
Here's how you can pray:
Pray for Carson and Holden's mental and physical well being and that God reveals His plan to them in all of this. He is good always. Also, pray for the families and the emptiness they feel while being apart from their hurting loved one. Laura (Carson's mom) and Amy (Holden's mom) are being rockstars living in the facility and being the boy's cheerleaders while they're recovering. They are the glue holding us all together.
Thankfully, the Lord is faithful to meet all our needs -- and not just the tangible ones. He meets every emotional need, every spiritual need, and every physical need. He knows what these next 6 weeks will look like for the Magowan family even though we do not. There is a long way to go, but He doesn't just show us the path, He directs every step.
