eBike for Jessi

Helping Jessi finance her e-roadbike

I am raising money for my dear partner, who would love to be able to cycle more regularly as well as go on bicycle holidays in the future. Lately she's had a growing interest to pick up road cycling, however, due to her disability a regular road bike doesn't work for her. Unfortunately e-road bikes are still quite expensive compared to regular ones, and being on a rather low salary it will probably take her at least a couple of years to save up for one.

Jessi is altruistic, caring and the most generous person I have met. One of the things I appreciate most is her innate ability to respond to friends and colleagues in need of support. I believe she has a way with people that opens doors, always ready to help others out, listening and bringing kindness to those around her.

Some years ago, before I met her, Jessi was in a work-related accident. She was working overtime at a shoe company with a high degree of pressure from the management. Due to very unfortunate events she accidentally got her foot stuck in a machine meant for compressing waste products. If it wasn't for a janitor close by who heard her, and managed to pull her out, she would not be alive today.

Thankfully, despite the circumstances she recovered well, mainly (according to the doctors) due to her history as a gymnast which made her learning to walk with a prosthesis significantly easier. It's far from trouble free though, life with a prosthesis means chronic pain, phantom pains and running the risk of puncturing the tissue at the tip of her injured leg if she puts too much stress on it. That means she can only walk for shorter distances and that she can't put too much pressure on that leg for extended periods of time. As you can see from her photo, the leg was cut just below the knee, which means she still has some flexibility in terms of movement.

Being a leg amputee she is only able to ride shorter distances on her own, and only with assistance. An e-Road bike that's easy to cycle even if the battery runs out and primarily, an eBike that would enable her to cycle more regularly, stay healthy and go on bicycle holidays would make a world of difference.  She does have some experience with regular e-bikes, however due to them being quite bulky and heavy, they don't offer anything close to the experience of a road bike and most importantly, once the batteries run out which they do on longer trips, heavy e-bikes are impossible to cycle for a leg amputee.

This is the kind of e-road bike I would like to get her. Light enough to go on longer holidays and be able to finish if the battery/ assistance runs low and you need to pedal more on your own to the nearest charging point.

Are you able to help? Please consider a donation even if it's just a small amount. I started this fundraiser in secret because I know she would never ask for something like this herself. I would be immensely thankful if you would consider in joining me in making a positive difference in this wonderful woman’s life.

Thank you for your time, may you be well and happy.
