As many of you already know, we lost the entire bottom level of our home last Friday to the floods.
There has been an outpour of so much love and support it's astounding! We couldn't have come this far in the salvage and emotional remediation without you guys! Truly so many of you have come through for our family on many levels of recovery and it means everything in this time.

The torrential rains of Hallows Eve in central Texas caused the Colorado river to rise 37 feet above its normal level. The waters in our home were rising so fast. We were so lucky that we had four dear friends with us assisting in safety protocol and evacuation. Indeed it was the most terrifying and surreal event in both of our lives. The canoe (with no paddles or rope) evacuation with a frightened and screaming baby strapped on to her mama, as we crossed 30 feet of water in the black of night, is enough fear and trauma for any lifetime. We are grateful that each of us made it out alive and safe! We owe our family's lives to our friends.
With Tyson's back thrown during the evacuation process, and my full attention and care on our tiny newborn, Ava Simone, we wouldn't of been able to navigate the rising and rushing waters to safety. No way.

So truth be told, the aftermath was ugly, messy and overwhelming. Because our home flooded to almost 5Ft, about the only thing salvaged was our kitchen and bathroom's recycled glass counter tops.
With walls and floors completely obliterated, our homes contents stood no chance. Our son's Orion's bedroom unfortunately had the worst over-all damage, one we believe is to much for his 2 year old eyes to see. The sight is more like a river bottom.

Despite all of this, we feel there are tremendous lessons in this devastating wreck of an experience and we do not feel bitter. Certainly, there's feeling of loss in losing personal treasures such as our son Orion's favorite bedtime books or past 200 hrs of footage of Tyson's shiniest L.A. time, we feel it's still easy not be be in a state of despair. From the time Mother Nature made a house call up until today, we are receiving so much love and support! And for that, we are filled again with true abundance.
From our's to your's ,Thank you, really Thank you!

Unfortunately, we could not have flood insurance (we believe) due to the location of our home. So this is a huge loss for us. Possibly our appliances, a vehicle, removal, cleaning, replacement, finally reconstruction is going to be costly. Many people ask what they can do to help, if you feel so inclined to help, please offer a donation. Anything will help, no amount is too small.

In gratitude and love,
Cassandra
