Our sweet Chloe went in for her third halo traction surgery January 31st after a failed spinal fusion. After three weeks of halo traction Chloe’s incision was not healing well. Her family had to travel back to Children’s Hospital Colorado from Montana for what was supposed to be a quick clean out of the incision. She went into surgery February 27th. Unfortunately, the infection was much deeper than her surgeon had originally thought. He had to remove the remaining screws and the surgery went longer than expected. While in surgery Chloe’s blood pressure dropped and her spinal cord was deprived of blood and oxygen. To everyones shock she woke up with no feeling in legs and feet.

Chloe is currently inpatient at Children’s Hospital Colorado recuperating and waiting to gain some strength to start inpatient rehabilitation for six weeks After the six weeks she will need to go back into surgery for another spinal fusion. After the spinal fusion chloe will require a few more weeks of inpatient rehabilitation before she is allowed to go home.
