My wife and I just welcomed our new baby girl (first child) on March 1, 2015. She is currently in Neonatal Intensive Care from being 8 weeks early. They are anticipating on her being in the NICU until about her original delivery date which was April 20th. With all the specialists, tests, etc they are doing, we have found out our insurance isn't all it was cracked up to be for coverages and we got a taste of what the bill is going to look like from just the time we have been there and let me say HOLY CRAP (researched and found average NICU stay cost per day is $6,000 HOLY HOLY CRAP).
With the medical bills starting to come in already (they dont waste any time) and our normal bills, not to mention the upkeep with the house since we spend 99.9% of the time at the hospital with her (lawn maintenance, backyard getting overgrown, pool clean, house dirty and dusty), we are treading water, but not sure for how long. With all the tests, stays, medications, etc they are doing, the medical bills are starting to roll in putting us farther and farther behind (yes, I have savings and with the unexpected early arrival and NICU requirement, those savings are disappearing faster than you can imagine).
To top it off, the new house insurance company we had to switch to just said they are wanting a new roof put on now since they are picking us up. So, if you know an affordable roofer it would greatly help especially with everything going on!
I appreciate you all taking the time to read this! Any unused portion of the funds raised will be donated to a group that supports high risk pregnancies and NICU babies and children's foundations.
