Help Us Rebuild Our Lives After Losing Everything in the Eaton Fire

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

On January 7th, my son (Kaisyn Yashar) and I (Brian Knowles) lost our family home of over 25 years to the Eaton fire. In moments, everything we owned—our memories, belongings, and sense of stability—was gone. We fled with only a few necessities, and now face the overwhelming task of moving forward.

Our home held a deep significance for my family. It was purchased in 1997 by my mother, a single parent and devoted youth track coach for the Pasadena Running Roses. She instilled in us values of resilience and community service. After battling dementia for nearly 15 years, she passed away in November 2024, in the very home she built with love. Tragically, just two months later, the fire destroyed everything she left behind.

As a lifelong resident of Northwest Altadena, I’ve spent nearly two decades coaching and mentoring youth at local high schools, including John Muir High School, Temple City High School, Monrovia High School, and Arcadia High School. Currently, I serve as the boys’ track and field head coach at John Muir, my alma mater. While my life’s passion has been to serve others, I now find myself in a position of seeking support as my son and I navigate this recovery journey.

We’re raising funds to create a stable future for my son and me as we get back on our feet. These funds will assist with needs and losses not fully covered by other sources of aid. Your help will allow us to address the many aspects of recovery and support our family through this crisis.
