In the early hours of January 8th, the Eaton Canyon Fire tore through Altadena, California, destroying homes and displacing thousands of families overnight. Among those affected was our lovely neighbor Carolyn Smith, a devoted full-time caregiver to her elderly aunt, Lena Meyers (also known as Aunt Mamie). Now they are facing the overwhelming challenge of starting their lives over from nothing.
Carolyn has dedicated herself to providing Aunt Mamie with the love and extensive home hospice care she needs every day, ensuring her comfort and well-being. Tragically, their home and all of their personal belongings were lost in the fire. While insurance is providing some assistance, it falls far short of covering the overwhelming reality of new needs and expenses they now face.
We were also affected by the fire and lost our own home, but we are fortunate enough to have sufficient resources to help us through our own loss. Carolyn and Aunt Mamie, however, are in a much more difficult position, which is why we want to focus this fundraiser on helping them.
Every dollar raised will go directly to Carolyn and Aunt Mamie to support their needs and help them make it through this difficult transition to rebuild their lives.
Any contribution, big or small, will mean so much as they work to regain stability after this devastating loss.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
