Relief For Emily
Donation protected
My beautiful, sweet sister, Emily, was diagnosed with Lupus and Fibromyalgia at 29 years old.
One of many exhausting hurdles in fighting Lupus, and Fibromyalgia is the diagnoses process itself.
Many suffer with small signs and symptoms of these diseases for years before being diagnosed, let alone finding proper treatment.
Once diagnosed, there is no clear resolve or relief. Every person is different, and requires a great deal of trial and error (and in turn, prolonged discomfort). You can only hope that you stumble upon a caring, hard working team of specialists, that genuinely want to help you through your suffering and can guide you through such a terrifying process.
Easier said then done…
The things ‘they’ don’t tell you about falling ill:
Emily has had to fight day and night, for her own well-being. In the brief moments she has to enjoy her life…to be happy, and pain free, it’s so hard for me to imagine her having to deal with the financial stress that all this has caused her, and will continue to.
As a sister, I have felt completely helpless in her long and continuous journey to finding relief, and resolve.
In the midst of a pandemic, my ability to simply hug my little sister, to console her, be there for her, it all feels more of a risk to her health sometimes, than a benefit. That’s a heartbreaking realization to have.
At some point, I could no longer stand the thought of her fighting this battle by herself. I had to help in some way, and I knew I couldn’t do it alone.
With an immense amount of help from a wonderful group of friends, local bands and businesses, I was able to put together Rock For Relief: A Benefit For Em. My hope, is that this event will bring awareness to as many as possible, while raising money to pay for my little sisters quickly accumulating Medical Bills and relieve some of her stress as she continues this journey to a healthy life.
I have started this GoFundMe, so that anyone that cannot attend the event, but would still like to extend a helping hand, can do so.
I can’t begin to thank all the people that have already given their time, care, contributions, and concerns, in order to support Emily. I will be forever grateful to all of you, and all those who decide to donate in the future.
With Love,
Erica

The things ‘they’ don’t tell you about falling ill:
- THE COST: The host of Doctors appointments; Specialists that are tempted to start all over in diagnoses every time you see them; The inevitable second opinion; Endless tests and blood work; Prescriptions that you pray won’t damage organs that are already put at high risk. It can become very challenging to both your mental and financial health.
- THE RISK: No one ever anticipates needing to take off work for months at a time, but when forced to choose between job security, and your physical health, sometimes there’s no choice at all. You have to take care of yourself first and foremost.
