My dear friend Elizabeth Dimond's apartment (125 Second Ave) was part of the devastating East Village blaze that occurred on March 26th. The apartment she's lived in for over 6 years was damaged by the fire and is uninhabitable. She lost everything. She was supposed to be moving to a new apartment in the same neighborhood just four days after this tragic event occurred.
Elizabeth had just left her apartment 30 minutes prior to the terrible explosion. We are all so happy that she wasn't home when it took place!
That being said, imagine leaving the house in the morning not knowing that everything you have on your person that day is all you will have to rebuild your life. Elizabeth did not have renters insurance and is in need of financial assistance. Lost photos and mementoes are irreplaceable, but we ask your support to help her purchase everyday essentials, most importantly a bed to sleep in, clothing, toiletries and food.
Those who know Elizabeth know she can always make us laugh and is a joy to be around. Please consider making a donation to help her in this tragic time of need. We appreciate your support!
UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who's donated! The goal was increased after receiving news that everything in her apartment was destroyed.
