My name is Pam, and I’m writing this as a very proud and very worried Grandmother. In May, my grandson, Easton, was born. As the doctors did their routine tests and newborn check ups we were thrown for a loop when we found out Easton was born with a heart condition called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) — a hole between the chambers of his heart that affects how blood flows through his body. He is a happy, active baby and already shown so much strength for someone so small, but he has a long road ahead.

The long drives from St. Clair County to U of M in Ann Arbor, have already become costly and daunting - and the trip is only about to get longer when Easton has his first heart surgery on October 29th; instead of spending his first Halloween in a cute little costume. This is the first of possibly multiple surgeries, long recovery times in the hospital and follow up visits.

My son and daughter-in-law have remained positive and strong through it all, but we are concerned about the amount of time they will be away from work to tend closely to Easton.

This is where we are asking for our family, friends and community to show up, big or small. If you have it in your heart to help Easton's heart get stronger, we would appreciate it very much. Every cent of funds donated will support Easton's medical bills, travel expenses, and supporting his parents while they tackle all that is coming their way while Easton heals. Anything left will be put into savings for Easton for further medical visits, college savings and hopefully a future filled with hunting and hockey, like his dad!
