When the unfathomable happens, we look to God and our community for help.
Easton Glynn-Chapman is a happy, sweet, and energetic four year old boy who is adored by his mom Lisa, his older brother Ethan, his grandparents Terri and Bruce, and everyone who has been blessed to know him. Unfortunately, a tumor was discovered on his kidney and on February 1st, he had surgery to have both the tumor and kidney removed. The following week an MRI scan thankfully showed that the "tentacles" of the tumor had not spread into any other organs. However, due to the nature of the tumor: the size, the fact that it ruptured upon removal, it has been classified as a Stage 3, Wilms Tumor. Fortunately, Easton does have the least aggressive form of Wilms Tumor, which is just one of many blessings from God along this frightening journey, and thankfully that means his treatment will be much less intense than it could have been. It does mean he won't be able to return to school this year, but our families at Trinity cannot wait to welcome him with love and the biggest hugs when he returns in Kindergarten!
As you can imagine, it will not be an easy road as they navigate the next seven months of chemotherapy. He has already started his intravenous chemo and we are told the side effects of his treatment should be minimal to none; however, his beautiful hair could begin to fall out as early as next week. We don't know how hard this will be on him, as he loves to shake his head to feel his hair move and enjoys twirling it as well. In addition to the chemo, he will start radiation on February 13th and receive 10 1/2 units daily for seven days. Since they don't administer radiation on weekends or holidays, his radiation should end on February 22nd. He will be able to do both the chemo and radiation as outpatient and has already returned home to continue his recovery.
Lisa is his primary caregiver and will need to take time off work for up to seven months to focus on Easton's healing. The decision to forgo a full salary in order to care for a sick child is never easy because surgery, hospital stays, and treatments cost money. This is why we created this GoFundMe on behalf of Lisa and her sweet boys. We are asking with great humility and gratitude that you find it in your heart to help. $25 will chip away at monthly utilities. $50 will contribute toward groceries. $100 will help with gas and parking for hospital appointments. $250 will put a dent in her rent. Every dollar counts towards relieving Lisa and her family of financial stress so that they can focus on Easton and their continued prayers for his healing.
On behalf of Lisa: "We couldn't do this without Jesus. I pray healing over my baby's body. I pray for strength and discernment as well as God preparing Ethan's heart as we navigate how to tell him bits of information. We pray the right words are given to us. We pray for Ethan to have no fear, as well as Easton. We ask for comfort for all of us that only Jesus can provide. Thank you for your prayers, and love. We continue to look to Jesus for direction and His comfort."
THANK YOU in advance for your help! Your prayers, compassion, and generosity are what will help Lisa and her family through this unexpected crisis.
