Who we are and why we care:

The East Cape Guild, a non-profit organization, was established in 1997 to assist students throughout the East Cape region to continue their high school education.  After a Mexican student completes the U. S. equivalent of 9th grade the costs for continued attendance in school are the responsibility of individual families. Tuition, uniforms, transportation and other costs are a heavy burden on families with several children to educate and moderate family income.

This year we have received applications from 203 qualified students. We are currently in the
process of reviewing the school tuition and transportation costs to determine whether we raised
enough money in 2016 to fund all these students.
East Cape Guild scholarships are awarded on the basis of high academic achievement and financial need.

In May of 2016 the East Cape Guild awarded “becas” or scholarships to 175 high school students. This represents a new high for the Guild! With the hard work of our members and the help from our generous donors we were able to provide becas including tuition and
transportation costs to all applicants that were qualified to receive assistance.
How it works:
Applications are delivered in January to secondary and preparatory schools in the East Cape region from as far south as Cuadano and north to San Antonio.
Interested students submit the application, a letter they compose in English and Spanish stating why they
want a scholarship, a letter of recommendation, and proof of their grades.
After a careful review of the potential recipients the scholarships are decided. In May of every year the proud students and their families gather at La Concha in Los Barriles to receive their awards.

Your involvement in the East Cape Guild is welcome and there are several ways to partcipate.

You can attend or volunteer at one of the “Fun Raising” events the Guild hosts each year from the Monte Carlo night, Baja Ha Ha Golf Tournaments, or the Bocce Ball Tournament.
