Hello, I am Ken Carriere, a current resident of Sevier County. My family lived in the eastern part of Kentucky in the exact area where major flooding took place last week. We understand how these people feel because we were also flooded in that area in 2008. We experienced over three feet of water throughout our home. We also know how it feels to receive assistance at a tough time, and we wanted to do something to give back.
Our close neighbors, the eastern part of Kentucky, have been struck with a devastating flood of epic proportions this past week and need essential supplies. So far, there are reports of over 25 lives lost, including a family who lost four children whose ages range from 1 ½ to 8 years old! The extent of the property damage and loss of life in this rural Appalachian region of Kentucky is beyond belief! Many families in this current Kentucky flood had no time to grab anything but what they had on their backs. For this reason, they will need as many basic supplies as possible to help them through this tough time.
We are asking the charitable folks of eastern TN to give whatever they can afford (large or small) to a region that is only three hours away. The people of this region are frequent visitors to the Smoky Mountains. They need your help now!
Funds will be utilized to purchase these essential basic supplies and transported directly to a community center set up as a regional distribution center this Wednesday.
