East Pike Elementary Outdoor Learning Garden

Hi! My name is Mia Herman and I am currently a senior at Chatham University in their CIDA accredited Interior Architecture program. As part of their curriculum, I am required to offer my hand to a sustainable community service organization or project. It was brought to my attention that the outdoor learning space at East Pike Elementary is in need of a facelift. As an alumni student of Indiana Area School District, I am honored to offer my professional hand to support elementary students in the district. I have had prior experience in designing educational spaces both indoors and outdoors in the past, with particular attention to neurodiversity. I look forward to adding both fun and function to a new outdoor environment for students to have a more hands-on experience in nature. To accomplish this exciting goal, we are in need of financial support from our community to aid in the cost of materials to help make the most of this opportunity.
