East LA Garfield HS Softball Championship RINGS

Hi, my name is Arnie Carrillo and I’m

fundraising for Championship Rings for the

Garfield High School Softball Team.

Champions… Against All Odds

This year started off with the biggest adversity we were going to face as a team. Having no access to a field due to our new Softball/Baseball complex. The entire fall our lady bulldogs dedicated themselves on working their fundamentals anywhere other than a softball field/cages. Which consisted of practicing on our outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, football field, and our track.

In the Spring, thanks to ELAC’s softball program we were able to get access to a softball field during the first half of our season. That in itself was a struggle, but we made it happen with the help of the Carrillo Family and Coach Karla making multiple trips to get the girls over to ELAC safely.

We became CHAMPIONS while the odds stacked against us and our hopes of playing on our very own field diminished. Instead of bringing up hurdles, we focused on the things we could control and kept all the negative thoughts out. We became stronger and quicker by weightlifting early in the mornings. We had the perfect coaches and staff. One that never looked at all the disadvantages we had, but instead looked for answers in the most uncertain times. Our head coach spear-heading the way with her words and actions of encouragement and stability, never allowing us to quit and bring us closer.

With a competitive pre-season and league we knew we had to fight for every WIN. With last season falling short in the Semi-Final game. We knew the expectations were high. This was the team to get the job done. So our Lady Bulldogs accepted the challenge of having to win 5 games in order to become CHAMPIONS. After 27 years these group of girls got the job done TOGETHER. It took a village to achieve our Championship Win and for the first time to compete in State Playoffs.

With an amazing and unwavering community, supportive parents and a one-of-a-kind administration behind us all the way to CSUN filling up the stands with alumni and our BULLDOG NATION, we did the unimaginable (to some) by becoming CHAMPIONS.

So Bulldog Nation we are asking for your help to support your lady bulldogs raise the money they need in order to get their rings. They have worked so hard all year to come together to bring the trophy home and represent their community proudly. These girls are proud to say they are from East L.A.
