Dear East End Books Ptown Supporters:
As most of you are aware, in order to maintain social distancing and
ensure the health & safety of everyone who visits our lovely indie bookstore by the Sea, we have closed our store - for the foreseeable future. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 health & safety recommendations and will reopen when we can safely operate. Your health &
safety is our number one priority.
We are very grateful for our loyal bookstore friends and supporters, in Provincetown and across the globe. Over the years we’ve enjoyed
meeting you and have loved our conversations about books, literature, cultural & current affairs. Many of you have attended our author book events either in person or via Livestream. We are not only a local
community gathering spot, but a global one as well. We have happily
partnered with many nonprofits for events and have contributed
financially and with gift cards to many organizations.
You never know who you’ll run into at East End Books Ptown. One day it could be Film Icon & Author John Waters , or Award winning
writers & artists like Michael Cunningham, Paul Lisicky, Julia Glass,
Diane von Furstenberg,
Eileen Myles, Sara Schulman, Hanif Abdurraqib, Jacqueline Woodson,
Tony Kushner, Rebecca Makkai, Jamie Brenner, Armistead Maupin,
Jennifer Finney Boylan, Chef Barbara Lynch, Ilona Royce Smithkin,
John Derain, Ken Fulk, Ryan Murphy, Judith Light, Grant Ginder, Julia Phillips, Cynthia Newberry Martin, Paula Vogel, Seth Rudetsky, Kate
and Vin Scelsa, Henri Cole, Camille Rankine, Jessie Mueller,

who’ve participated in book events.
We continue to do book events - all virtual for the foreseeable future. You'll still be able to purchase the author books & get them signed. You can ask questions Directly and we’ll also ask questions submitted by customers via email and during the Live Stream. You can see our most recent virtual event with Paul Lisicky “Later” on our Facebook Page
The closing of our bookstore has presented us with a number of
financial challenges which threaten our survival, and our ability to be
ready to welcome everyone back, once we’re all able to gather again.
Most of you know that bookstores are a passion for booksellers. We
love meeting you and sharing our love of literature. Indie bookstores
don’t operate on high profit margins. We need your help to weather
these very challenging times. We are closed, but continue to have our bills and expenses to pay.
A number of customers have asked how they can help East End Books Ptown during this difficult period. We are truly grateful for your continued support! A number of people suggested we start a Gofundme Campaign to help support our bookstore during these very challenging times.
We are personally asking for your help. Please donate whatever you
can to help keep our indie bookstore by the Sea alive and here for everyone when the Town opens up again. We need all of you to get through these very challenging times.
We realize the duration of COVID-19 could last for some time and that being largely indoors will be challenging for everyone.
Though our physical store is closed, our online website is open 24/7 and we'll continue to process and ship book orders. You can order most books in print, eBooks & Audiobooks, gift cards, bookstore memberships and more. Bespoke book subscription plans are available and details can be found on our website (www.eastendbooksptown.com).
If you've been considering purchasing Audiobooks, I encourage you to look at the great selection on our website offered by Libro.fm. You get high quality Audiobooks and help support our bookstore rather than Amazon's Audible.
Books have helped me throughout my life and I will continue to rely on their comfort in the weeks & months ahead.
At East End Books Ptown, we will continue to help you find great books to read! See our latest book recommendations on our website and in our newsletters.
We are grateful for any contribution you make to help us survive. In addition to making any size donation , we also have some other ways to support East End Books Ptown. You can become a 2020 East End Books Ptown Sponsor for $2500 or more. You’ll be listed on our social media and our website as a sponsor. Choose between “Later” by Paul Lisicky, “Tidal Flats” by Cynthia Newberry Martin , Summer Longing”
