East Boldon Scout Group Mini Bus
On 16th December at 9.25pm Gus, our local Scout group mini bus was stolen from a securely locked compound outside of our Scout Hut.
After what has already been such a difficult year we are all quite simply gutted that our Scout group has been targeted in this way.
Gus was the result of extensive fundraising by the group and a competition was held to name it. It was immaculately maintained which was a reflection of how valued it was by the Scouts.
Losing Gus means that once Covid restrictions are eased, the group won’t be able to resume trips, camps and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions as there won’t be enough transport for all of our young people.
The insurance has yet to be settled but we know that it won’t cover the cost of a ‘like for like’ replacement mini bus.
East Boldon Scout Group is part of the fabric of our village. So many of our young people have benefitted from the experiences provided by the group. Countless more have achieved their Duke of Edinburgh Awards due to the dedication and support of our leaders.
The Scout Group are key to the organisation of East Boldon’s annual Remembrance Parade and always welcome everyone back to the Scout Hut afterwards for refreshments.
There’s no doubt that East Boldon would be a poorer place without our Scout Group.
For that reason I’d like to kindly ask for your support to help us raise funds to make up the shortfall from the insurance payout so that the group can fund another minibus.
Any size donation will be very gratefully received and will help to keep Scouting going in East Boldon.
