East Atlanta The People’s Uprising Sponsorship

Hello, neighbors!
Our calls to action have been met thus far with overwhelmingly supportive responses from the East Atlanta community. Now we have another ask. Our good friend, State Rep. Bee Nguyen (the fightin’ 89th!), recently reached out about a possible Argosy sponsorship of Young Atlanta Leaders- The People’s Uprising bus trip to Louisville, KY to meet with city officials to discuss police reform and demand justice for Breonna Taylor. We, like every other small business in America right now, are facing an uncertain future and are not in a position to shoulder any monetary sponsorships. BUT... we are hopeful that East Atlanta could band together and sponsor The People’s Uprising as a community.
We have formed a Go Fund Me in hopes of raising $5,000 by August 7 to send these young leaders and activists on their crucial mission. Any donation is appreciated. Please read the full description below. Thank you for all y’all do.
In honor of Congressman John Lewis, The People's Uprising is traveling to Louisville to demand justice for Breonna Taylor. The Modern Day Freedom Bus Ride will leave Atlanta on August 7 with stops in Louisville and Chattanooga to meet with local elected officials to discuss police reform. The attendees are being led by Young Leaders Atlanta, a branch of The People's Uprising. This committee engages Black activists under the age of 35.
The Modern Freedom Ride will engage in non-violent action and will receive training before individuals embark on the ride. Along with training, activists will also receive COVID-19 testing and social distancing protocols will be used. The funding will go towards the cost of transportation and logistics for the ride.
Along with attendees, Rep. Bee Nguyen, State Rep. Park Cannon, State Rep. David Dreyer, and Senator Nikema Williams will be traveling to Louisville to uplift the voices of young activists and to demand justice for Breonna Taylor.
