Hello again.
We got the results of my mother's MRI. She's got severe narrowing of two locations on the lumbar spine, leading to pinched nerves and severe pain that's inhibiting her ability to walk.
Prior to this my mother had three hip surgeries in as many years on the same hip. She can't walk on her own, and moving around the house has become almost impossible.
There's a looming threat that my mother will need another surgery, this time on her spine. She spends all her time in pain, and there's nothing I can do to help her. The best thing for all of us is to have some kind of financial relief, even temporary, so that we're not so stressed out we can't function.
As her primary caregiver, the burden of keeping the house afloat falls on me, and managing the schedule of 3-4 people on a daily basis is daunting for a depressed person. I also have my own medical concerns that make finding a job very difficult, in and among the scheduling issues. I am searching though, for something with a Midnights shift so I can be home during the day for my family.
I don't really have a specific number in mind, but I think $15,000 is enough to cover my credit card debt and keep the bills going for a little while. I've been using the cards to pay bills, and it's getting tighter and tighter.
I'm not above asking for help anymore. If I can be a kind person to others, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for kindness if I need it.
We don't qualify for any kind of disability or social assistance because the household makes too much, and the process of applying is so invasive that I have had panic attacks just thinking about it. I'd also like to avoid feeding into the stigma that people are leeching the system while I fight my ass off to make that stigma go away.
