My name is Katelyn Hamilton, and I had the privilege of being Shawnice’s Big Sister through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program for 10 years. I’ve created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden on her family as they plan funeral and memorial services to honor her beautiful life.

Shawnice was taken from this world far too soon, at just 21 years old, with her 22nd birthday approaching this Friday, October 17. Early Wednesday morning, she passed peacefully in her sleep from unknown causes. The shock and heartbreak of losing someone so young, so full of light, is beyond words.

Shawnice was kind, compassionate, loyal, and deeply loved by everyone who knew her. She was bright, driven, and had so much life ahead of her. To have had her for 21 years was an incredible blessing, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.

No parent should ever have to face the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye to their child, or bear the financial burden that comes with it. Any amount you can contribute will help her family focus on what matters most: celebrating her life and finding peace in the midst of this loss.
