Easing the Burden: Help Dee and Family

Donation protected
Aloha everyone, most of you that know me, know that animals are what make my world go round. Specifically, my own animals, are just as loved and equally as important as my human children. This past Friday, our 2 year old cat, Kono was not acting like herself. I took her vitals at home and when I discovered a fever of 105 degrees, I rushed her to the emergency clinic that I work for. We ran bloodwork and got her hooked up to IV fluids ASAP to try to bring her temperature down. Though her bloodwork showed nothing significant, and her fever did break overnight, she started having seizures. I went to the hospital in the wee hours of the morning to be with her and work with our emergency doctors to tailor a diagnostic plan to figure out what we were dealing with. She suddenly was having trouble breathing on her own. This made it impossible to get her anesthetized for a cerebral spinal fluid tap, so our next option for answers was a CT of the brain. Upon completion, the doctors nor the radiologist were able to find any conclusive evidence as to why she was so sick. At this point, Kono was unable to breathe on her own and was on a ventilator until we could figure out the next steps. We gave her a few hours to see if the antibiotics and the steroids would help turn things around for her, but that was unsuccessful. Unfortunately, our family had to make the absolute hardest and selfless decision to end her suffering and let her go. While we are still stumped as to why and how she got so sick, we are stuck with a hefty medical bill. Regardless of the cost, we only wanted what was best for her. It all happened so fast. I had just taken out a loan for debt consolidation and was on the road to finally be out from under myself financially. I am a full time employee (Vet Tech), going to school full time, and a mother of 4 kids and another cat and dog at home. Quite honestly, I’d just like a freakin break. If anyone could find it in their hearts to donate anything to this fund, myself and my family would be truly grateful. Even just sharing to get the word out means so much. If you know me, you know that I would give anyone the shirt off of my back if someone else needed it. Please consider this fund for the sake of our family and in remembrance and honor of our sweet, sweet kitty, Kono ❤️ anything helps!

Mahalo nui loa,
Dee May and family
